This is why I love Kindergarten. What started as helping two students put on their dramatic play costumes turned into an entire class ballet project! The two girls asked for ballet music to practice. I put on the Nutcracker music. Two other students thought that they should set up chairs. They put all the stuffed animals on the chairs to watch. A few other students thought it would be fun to be in the audience. Then all of a sudden there were Kindergartners making tickets, serving food to the audience, collecting tickets, making the ticket box and a decision that we should make gingerbread men out of play dough to serve to our pretend audience. We didn't get all of the elements together to have a our ballet show today. They would like to continue this play during centre time tomorrow. They only have a few requests for me. They wanted to know if I could go buy them ballet shoes, some more skirts, make a stage and find more ballet music. What a great morning!
